Prompt Hours — generative workshops in Zoom!

I’ll be hosting prompt-writing hours in Zoom once every season! The first workshop will be Sunday, October 27 starting at 8:30pm Eastern. The next one after that will be in January 2025.

This is a pressure-free generative workshop and a creative space to write together. If you’ve taken generative workshops with me previously, the prompts will be ones I haven’t shared in classes before. If you want to attend, just have an active Writer Membership here at this site, and you'll have a free invite!

These generative workshops are live only and will not be recorded, to be in the moment and make the experience more private and intimate for those who attend. Stay tuned for more details and a link to register.

Want to join me for a generative asynchronous online class this fall? I’m bringing back my Crafting the Young Adult Novel class with 24PearlStreet, which is Fine Arts Work Center’s online home for writers. This four-week course is enrolling *right now*—no need to apply, just sign up!—and we begin on November 11. This workshop is for those who are writing a YA novel of any genre, at any stage in the process. There will be letters and videos from me, prompts and exercises and opportunities to create new writing and deepen what you already have for your YA novel, a place to connect with your cohort and optionally share what you’ve written, and a private Zoom conference with me. My previous sessions of this class a couple years ago were an incredibly fruitful, connective time and I’m so looking forward to doing it again with a whole new group of writers!
