Prompt Hour Workshop (January 2025)

The next prompt hour—a generative prompt-writing workshop hosted by me!—will be held in Zoom this Sunday, January 26, starting at 8:30pm Eastern. If you're already signed up for a writer membership, you don't need to pay anything more to attend, but you do need to register to get the link. I'm offering these generative workshops as a way to say thank you for joining me here, and if you're interested you're welcome to attend.

The prompt hour is a generative writing workshop hosted by me, Nova Ren Suma. Here’s what to expect in this workshop: https://newsletter.novaren.com/workshops/ The Winter 2025 Prompt Hour will take place live in Zoom on: Sunday, January 26, starting at 8:30pm Eastern It will likely be an hour and fifteen minutes, but please forgive me for using a more succinct title! This is a pressure-free generative workshop and a creative space to write together. If you’ve taken generative workshops with me previously, the prompts will be ones I haven’t shared in classes before. If you want to attend, just have an active Writer Membership on my newsletter by January 26, and you’ll have a free invite. If you don’t have a membership, there is an alternative way to pay! Alternative way to pay: If you’d like to attend but would prefer to pay in Venmo, just Venmo @NovaRenSuma $5. You will get a month-long Writer Membership subscription to my newsletter for January 2025, which includes an invite to the January 26 workshop. What to expect:

I'll come to the prompt hour with a couple writing prompts to offer you, and you'll come ready to write on the spot. You don't need to prepare anything for this workshop. Just come ready to write!

My prompts will be open and flexible for any kind of writing: fiction or nonfiction, all genres, all age levels, poetry or prose or beyond.

We'll begin with me introducing the process and setting some ground rules, such as my assuring you that anywhere your imagination takes you in response to a prompt is the right place... We'll do a warm-up. Then we'll get the first prompt and we'll turn off our cameras and write. After writing, there will be time for sharing aloud from some volunteers.

If you've taken classes with me before, especially ones with prompts, don't worry! None of my prompts will be repeats. They will be all new, just for this group and this moment.

This generative workshop will be live in Zoom only. To preserve an intimate writing space and a bubble safe for taking creative risks and reading raw work aloud, it will not be recorded. You can attend with your camera on or off, and participate as much as you're comfortable.
